If you haven't cycled for a while, Brisbane City Council is offering free Back on your Bike courses for a refresher of bike basics, or an opportunity to build your confidence and skills to ride in traffic with free Cycling in Traffic courses.

The Family Cycling Course is a great way for all family members to learn the basic cycling skills needed to get out and safely enjoy Brisbane’s fantastic off–road cycling network. Skills covered will include basic bike handling, safety checks, starting, stopping, turning and balance.

Ideally for families with children aged 7-12 years

The Cycling in Traffic bike ride is a great way to learn how to cycle in gentle traffic and see a bit of Brisbane at the same time. Skills covered include avoiding hazards, navigating intersections or roundabouts and changing lanes.

Must be 18 years plus

The Back on your Bike course, provides a refresher of the basics and is designed for those who haven’t cycled in a while. Skills covered include basic bike handling, setting up your bike, safety checks, starting, stopping, braking, using gears effectively, turning and balance.

Suitable for participants aged 13 plus. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by legal guardian.

The Family Fun Ride is a way for families to test their cycling skills while exploring their local area. Trained instructors will take you to key suburban destinations via either off-road paths and footpaths with a scavenger hunt thrown for a bit of fun.

For families with children aged 7-12 years, children must be able to cycle without training wheels. Maximum of two children per adult attending
